Petrified Wood and Agate
Petrified wood is formed when minerals grow in the cavities of natural wood over many millions of years. This particular speciman is agatized petrified wood which is formed when agate grows in the cavities as opposed to the more common silica. The agate gives this speciman its beautiful and rich variety of colors.
