The Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park is known for its huge Sequoia trees. Most visitors probably walk right past their down and dead cousins on the forest floor, but I was drawn to the intricate patterns and amazing textures of these burnt trees. It was hard to find good light on the bark, but I found a partially hollowed out log and used the reflections of direct light on the opposite side to give the side I was shooting its special glow.
