The bark of birch trees, as we all know, is white. However, I found a portion of one birch tree with this greenish bark. While driving through a canyon in the Eastern Sierras, I stopped to photograph a waterfall on the creek flowiing through the canyon. When I reached the edge of the creek below the falls, I noticed the green coloration on the lower portion of a nearby birch tree. I am no scientist and could not begin to explain why the birch bark was green; as a photographer, however, I could not help but take a picture of this rare and mesmerizing find.
